The Huehuetenango region of Guatemala is near and dear to my heart. First, it’s one of the first places where I slept at a coffee farm and woke up to roosters crowing at dawn. The smell of an old fashioned wood burning stove to make fresh corn tortillas reminds me that in Huehue, time can stand still and traditions are respected. Making morning coffee in Huehue - overlooking lush vast valleys full of wonderful coffee with limitless potential - is my happy place, and one of my top locales to make coffee.
Our coffee is custom roasted for you - freshness is guaranteed. We ship all orders within 1-2 business days, or via our SAME DAY service for local customers.
The history of Finca Armenia is a testament to agricultural evolution in Huehuetenango. Originally, the farm was part of a family inheritance and was primarily used for pastures. However, over time, Gelber’s family led an agricultural transformation of these lands. They grew the farm and planted coffee, taking advantage of the naturally fertile soil enriched by years of grazing. This transition not only turned Finca Armenia into an exclusively coffee-producing farm but also allowed the development of sustainable and high-quality agricultural practices. Today, the Gelber is focused on introducing improvements every year.
Finca Armenia has a clear and ambitious vision for the future. The plans include planting coffee on all available land - while still protecting its natural forests - and gradually phasing out areas dedicated to corn cultivation. More importantly, the Gelber is looking to adopt technology and innovative agricultural practices to improve the production, consistency and overall quality of the coffee. Gelber sees this technification of the farm as a crucial step to increase efficiency and sustainability in cultivation.
