2012 Tastings Series

2012 Tastings Series

Here in our cafès, we are very excited to re-launch our coffee tasting series this year. We are incredibly passionate about our coffee and cannot wait to be share the different aspects that go into making fantastic coffee, from farm to cup. Now, we understand that our world of coffee can be completely confusing, overwhelming and indecipherable at times;  we hear great questions everyday – “How is this coffee different that this other one?”, “What does honey-processing mean”, or “What is an aeropress and how does it taste?”. With our coffee tastings, we aim to get you excited about coffee and allow you to explore it’s nuances in new ways.

We are also really excited to introduce an innovative, new format to these tastings. Instead of a random, new topic each week, we’ve put a lot of thought and effort into creating a comprehensive, year-long schedule of tastings, dividing the year into several different themes. Within each theme are different sessions that will expand upon and explore each theme. Each tasting will definitely build upon the last, but all are designed to allow anyone to jump right in at anytime, not feel lost, and learn something new. Beginning in week two, we’re introducing some session-specific notes to take home after each tasting that you can refer to on your coffee journey!

Tonight’s session will contain an overview of what’s to come and, beginning next week, we’ll launch into the full schedule, including: Origins, Processing, Brewing, Brew Methods, Roasting, Espresso, and Other Roasters.

We want you to be able to taste the many ways that coffee can be different and understand all the reasons why. Our new coffee tasting series is just one way we want to share our passion for coffee with you!

Come on down to our first session tonight, August 9th, at 6:30pm at our Marda Loop location, 2043 33 Avenue SW. There is no pre-registration, and it’s free to attend. We look forward to seeing you.
