Lights Out Decaf
BROWN SUGAR | DRIED FRUITS | WALNUT
We're pretty proud of our decaf. It's very tasty and hold its own against other coffees in our lineup. It's very round, but it shines because of its deep sweetness, reminiscent of dried fruits. We developed this roast so that the coffee works both for filter and espresso.

FULL STORY
Telila Coffee Washing Station (CWS) is owned and run by Mike Mamo. The washing station was purchased in 2019 and in 2019/2020 the first harvest was put into operation.
With a real focus on quality control and experimentation, we are excited to be working with Mike and his team at Telila. In addition to producing impeccably clean washed lots, Telila also produces fermented honey lots, and the occasionally naturally produced lot.
In the pursuit of improving quality, Telila is innovating in many exciting ways. For instance, where most washing stations build lots based exclusively on the processing method employed and the location the cherries were delivered to (i.e. the washing station name), Telila goes a step further and separates lots based on the kebele from which the cherry came.
In 2022, Mike and the team opened a second washing station nearby. Initially referred to as Telila site two, this station has now been giving the name Atoma. During the first season of operation, Atoma only produced naturally processed coffee. As of the 2023-2024 harvest, it now produces washed and honey lots, just like its sister station.
Most of the cherry being delivered is one of two varieties; Gibirinna 74110 and Serto 74112. Both of these are from the Metu Bishari selections made in the forest of the same name in the Illubabor Zone by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) in 1974. They were selected for their resistance to Coffee Berry Disease (CBD {no, not that CBD...}). Now, these are some of the most propagated varieties in Ethiopia.
Telila washing station, itself, is located in the Kecho Anderacha Kebele, Gera Woreda in the zone of Jimma. The Atoma station (Telila site two) is also in Jimma/Gera, but is in Wanja Kersa, a separate kebele. Both stations are located right around 2,000 masl.
PAIRS WELL WITH
… if you prefer a milder, less bitter, medium roast decaf. It’s been consistent over several bags and, speaking of bags, they are re-sealable and high quality.
I was also impressed by the shipping from YYC to YYZ, and the fact that the order was shipped out almost immediately. Not many retailers bother to do this, so I really appreciate it. Canada Post Express only took two days to arrive, and I think the shipping was about $13. Not bad at all.
Finally, price-wise, not sure these P&S beans are the most price competitive for the quantity received but I do like the coffee, so maybe I’ll just suck it up.
Would love to see another decaf option from you guys if it makes commercial sense. Cheers.
It is delicious and delivery was very quick.
I tried the Lights Out Decaf from Phil & Sebastian a couple months ago. And I just came back to get more. It's a delicious, beefy caramel coffee that we love at our house.
Deliciously smooth decaf
Tastes like ‘good’ coffee unlike most decafs which taste like they are made with the cheapest beans available.
