He is the original owner of Carmen Estate, which has been one of the top farms in Panama for the past decade. This coffee is from Carlos’ new project and we’re so proud to have this coffee to share with you this year.

CARLOS AGUILERA RISES ONCE AGAIN
I have a long history with Carlos Aguilera Franceschi and his original farm, Carmen Estate. I started buying Carmen’s caturra in 2010 and became great friends with Carlos. While Carmen is one of the most decorated farms in Panama, Carlos seized an opportunity too good to pass and sold the farm in 2020.
Being the coffee nerd that he is, Carlos couldn’t sit still, so he bought some land in the emerging Los Pozos region and planted it with Geisha. This coffee is the first harvest of this new farm and I cupped it in Panama with Jean Paul, who runs the farm, and we were both blown away with how delicate and clean it was, a very genuine geisha!
The coffee had 24 hours of anaerobic fermentation in cherry, and then it was de-pulped and fermented once more for 40 hours in stainless tanks. The coffee was then fully washed and gently dried. The result is a beautiful, delicate and elegant Geisha that represents everything that we all love about the Geisha variety.
