Lights Out Decaf
BROWN SUGAR | DRIED FRUITS | WALNUT
We're pretty proud of our decaf. It's very tasty and hold its own against other coffees in our lineup. It's very round, but it shines because of its deep sweetness, reminiscent of dried fruits. We developed this roast so that the coffee works both for filter and espresso.
The coffee in Lights Out Decaf right now comes from an awesome group of producers from the community of Suaza in the south of Colombia. You can read more about them below.

COFFEE ALL YEAR ROUND
Colombian coffee has a blessing and a curse - year round production. Most coffee producing countries have a marked harvest season, which usually lasts 3-4 months. Colombia does have two harvest peaks, known as “cosecha” (harvest) and “mitaca” (small harvest), but in reality, coffee is produced pretty much year round and this is especially true for the small producers of Suaza who make up the Divino Niño group. The year round harvest has a definitive financial advantage: money comes in all year. But spreading the harvest means that it’s hard to benefit from economies of scale and it’s hard to attract workers for smaller, regular pickings, as opposed to the large pickings during the peak of the harvest. The one advantage of the year round harvest, is that it allows the coffee producer to achieve better quality, should they desire. This is because the year round harvests are small, and gives the farmer an opportunity to take their time and do things right at the farm (when the harvest is heavy and all at once, the producer has to cut corners to get through it). This is what I see from the producers from Divino Niño: very consistent quality and attention to detail.
The result is a coffee that I want to drink all the time. Round, balanced, sweet yet unique - this is the type of coffee that pleases most palates and results in a super sweet and versatile espresso.
PAIRS WELL WITH
Rich and satisfying. Medium-ish roast. This is easily the best decaf I've come across in a while. 194f, 1:2.2, 31s.
Love this coffee, tastes amazing, easy to brew will definitely be buying again!
… if you prefer a milder, less bitter, medium roast decaf. It’s been consistent over several bags and, speaking of bags, they are re-sealable and high quality.
I was also impressed by the shipping from YYC to YYZ, and the fact that the order was shipped out almost immediately. Not many retailers bother to do this, so I really appreciate it. Canada Post Express only took two days to arrive, and I think the shipping was about $13. Not bad at all.
Finally, price-wise, not sure these P&S beans are the most price competitive for the quantity received but I do like the coffee, so maybe I’ll just suck it up.
Would love to see another decaf option from you guys if it makes commercial sense. Cheers.
It is delicious and delivery was very quick.
I tried the Lights Out Decaf from Phil & Sebastian a couple months ago. And I just came back to get more. It's a delicious, beefy caramel coffee that we love at our house.
